I got an offer to buy my tractor from a posting on this website from a Mr. Civik. He agreed to my price of $15500, but wants to have a person who owes him $21000 send me a check and I am then to send him the difference of $5500. This sounds a little fishy. Any experiences out there. If it is real then I need to know. Thanks in advance.

It is a scam. It has been run on all kinds of purchases, and on ebay sellers. They pay with a forged check. A fellow on Yesterday's Tractors sold one this way, fortunately he was cautious and held the deal up until the check cleared. It went through his local bank but was later found to be a forgery.
If it sounds too good to be true...

Mark H.has another post on this character. I also recieved the an offer from him. Mark thought it was the Nigerian connection. If you look at the server log the message is recieved before it was sent about 5 hrs difference. ....

I have my Mahindra for sale here also. Pretty much the same deal.. Guy wants to send check, providing I hand over the 5500 difference to whoever picks up the machine. It is an out and out scam deal. ....

Widespread scam. I've had my JD332 for sale now about 3mos, sold a couple weeks back. During that time I had 3 of these - hey I'll send you a cashiers check for twice what its worth and you give the rest to me, or my shipper, or my mistress. Mostly broken english. In each case I asked for a phone number to discuss. One guy send me a number and address in Liverpool that didn't exist. Never heard from the other 2.
If it looks to good to be true, it usually is. ....
